We spend a serious amount of our time keeping your car safe. But as the Lamin-x employees gear up for Halloween with friends and family, we are reminded that you are our friends too. Since we always want what is best for our friends, we are going to extend a quick post with simple tips to be safe this Halloween.
One of the most important things you can do, or teach your kids, is to pay attention. This includes putting away phones, not running, and staying on the designated sidewalks (unless you need to cross the street). It is important to remember not to run across the street and to walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible.
Go Where you Know
Some towns have “Safe Zones”, where families can go to an area and trick-or-treat, others do not. If you don’t have a designated “Safe Zone”, then go to neighborhoods you are familiar with. It is important to always have an adult with groups of children when trick-or-treating after dark.
Use Reflective Tape
Even if you are in a familiar neighborhood, it is still important to have some reflective surface on the costume or candy bag. The reflective surface will alert any oncoming cars that you are there well before they can actually fully see you.
The most important thing we can do as adults is to drive carefully on Halloween. Drive slower and be more alert when traveling down residential roads. These residential roads will have much more foot traffic than normal, so anticipate stopping for pedestrians and pay extra attention at crosswalks.
Have a Great Halloween!
Following these tips and using some commonsense will help keep you and your loved ones safe this Halloween. So from all of us at Lamin-x: be safe and have a great Halloween!
