Recently, we did a comparison between our film and our competition’s film. I don’t expect you to believe that we are unbiased when it comes to our quality. There is no way we can pretend to be unbiased when we talk about the best headlight film. However, we are going to share with you an internal test we did – Lamin-x vs Rvinyl.
Lamin-x vs Rvinyl
I don’t want to bore you, so I won’t. Simply put, we had a group of people (yes, Lamin-x employees) install Lamin-x, Rtint, and Rshield on a level 3 headlight. We followed the installation instructions for all the films to the letter. We judged the products on ease of installation and final appearance (after 1 week to test for lifting and clarity).
Lamin-x vs Rvinyl – Installation
Lamin-x rated the highest in ease of installation with 4 out of 5, while Rtint and Rshield came in at 2.13 and 2.33 respectively. Lamin-x proved easier to reposition and did not lift easily after being applied down to the light (the vital parts to a successful installation). Rtint was difficult to reposition and did not lift after being installed. Rshield repositioned easily, but lifted away from the light again and again.
Lamin-x vs Rvinyl – Final Product
After allowing the film to remain on the headlights in the sun for 1 week, we examined the final product. Lamin-x again rated the highest with 4.13 out of 5, while Rtint and Rshield are 3.67 and 1.33 respectively. Lamin-x and Rtint both did not lift and had good clarity. Rshield lifted all around the light, which was the largest reason why it scored so low.
Lamin-x vs Rvinyl – Final Thoughts
Lamin-x is easier to install and has a better final appearance than Rvinyl’s products. We are happy to report this to you, but as I have said before, we cannot pretend to be unbiased. However, I believe the results will help you in deciding which product to buy. This is a classic “You get what you pay for” situation. Is Lamin-x better? Yes. Is Lamin-x more expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Well… that is up to you.
